And yet another question....

Has anyone compiled information on what weatherstripping will fit the doors, trunk, etc. on their Kaisers? Specifically the companies that make weatherstripping and what part numbers fit?

I can't find a cross reference list anywhere. I'm specifically looking for it for my '54. But others must be looking as well.

I found some with similar cross sections to what is on the car (which may have already been replaced with the "wrong" stuff) but I'm not sure if they are the right ones.

Any suggestions?

Think Rudy Phillips has the rubber weatherstrip.

John Parker had the seal material reproduced and I think Rudy has it still. It is the type that KF started using on 52 and up Kaisers as described in the 52-53 Shop supplement. Directions are given for installing on page 20 of the manual.

I'm waiting for my manuals to arrive. I'll check the pages when I get it.

I've tried calling Rudy a few times but I don't get an answer. I'll try email. Might be easier.

FWIW, I can understand having the stuff "reproduced" but I just pulled one rear door apart and the top and hinge sides of the belt strip are attached to the stainless trim with what appear to be staples! This will be hard to install with out some fancy stapler.

And the ones attached to the interior trim have what I thought were clips that snapped onto the trim. However, on closer inspection, the clips appear to be attached right through the belt strip as well. Not your average window seals.

BTW, yes, I've progressed past the door seals and onto the window channels and seals. Looks like a lot of work!

I tried to google "resto-parts" and it appears to be a generic term for "Restoration Parts" as I got 62,000 hits. I'm sure ONE of them is the right one but I'd appreciate it if you could narrow the field down a bit.

With my luck it would be the 61,947th link I check....

I've got the catalogue from Restoration Specialties, John. I downloaded it awhile back. 2009 edition. They have a fabulous selection of stuff.

In the mean time, I googled "resto parts" and found a seller on ebay called Resto-Parts. They have (or claim to have) the same profiles.

I'll let you know what I think when it arrives. AND the price. This could be one of those "sounds too good to be true" things.

Also found a possible source for window channels at a "different" price than Restoration Specialties. I'll report on the quality and fit when I get them. (Along with the chrome 80 amp 6v one-wire alternator I ordered. Negative ground only from this place but someone already switched my car over.)
