What is it?
« on: January 12, 2014, 02:54:33 AM »
I installed the glove box today in the Henry J I am still finishing up putting together.

With the cardboard glovebox, was the felt covered cardboard piece.  Does not appear to go with glovebox.

Anybody know? Recognize it at all?

I don't know what that is Dave. I can't believe there would be a Henry J part that I wouldn't recognize but I won't say for certain that there isn't...  Anyway, how does the repro glove compartment fit? Is it workable? I'm  always cautious of repro parts unless my original is really bad. The glove box in my '53 is worn but not to the point where it requires replacement but on the other hand, a new one would be nice.

Did you install a new firewall pad in yours?  That's what I was doing when I took the attached picture. It really makes a difference but there are some tricks to it!

The boxes of parts that came with my stripped car contained two glove boxes.  One literally crumbled, the other one was not too bad.  I covered the whole thing inside and out with black gorilla duck tape to help it.  I put new bolt receiver clips on it and it went right in.  I glued black felt in the glove box onto the black tape so when it is opened, it looks brand new.  :)

The firewall pad looks okay, but would be nice to have new one.  Add that to the long term to do list.
