hey guys i my distributer bushings are going out i think ..i can move the rotor button side to side but i can also turn it about an inch or less,,i was going to set the points a while back and found this ,,,how much play should be in the dist button rotating and how do i order parts from rudys...and what would cause so much slack.

The rotor will normally rotate as it is pushed against the centrifugal advance springs (and will go back when released.) Worn bushings will allow sideplay- this will be on the order of mils. This is due to wear exacerbated perhaps by lack of lubrication. Parts needed will depend on whether you have an Autolite or Delco distributor. In either case, I would guess that they are available without too much digging.
