Again, assuming your car is a 47-48 and it has the swivel handle mechanism, right? The latch pawl has to be removed from the handle shaft. Not an easy task because it's an interference fit and 60 odd years later they're stuck. Some heat will help...just don't burn the paint. Once the lock pawl has been removed and the light socket/wiring is out of the way, the handle should lift off the trunk lid.
