Fuel filter on ebay car

Would you feel comfortable with a plastic fuel filter in this location.

Additional thought... I always wonder why most folks put the filter in front of the carburetor instead of in front of the fuel pump to protect it as well.

The 1951 Kaisers & 1952 Kaiser Virginians were factory equipped with a fuel filter at the cross member area on the driver side of the car.  Starting in 1952 later series cars, when AC pumps were used, they had the filter at the bottom of the pump.  Some of the 1953 and later cars (without s/c) had Carters & the filter was at the carb.  The easiest point to get at a filter (and best support for the mounting) is just ahead of the carb.

There's a fire waiting to happen. A fuel filter is always best as close to the fuel tank as possible. You then reduce the contaminants in the lines and pump. Otherwise, yes, ahead of the pump is better.

  By putting the filter just ahead of the carb. you eliminate any rust or corrosion coming off the fuel lines or pump. Fuel pumps can handle crap but carbs wont. And pumps will push gas through a partially clogged filter better than it will pull through one. But its a matter of choice.
