161 rebuild
« on: October 06, 2016, 08:15:28 AM »
Looking to rebuild two 161s...for those of you that have, I'm looking to see if you have fabricated a piece to mount the engine on the stand side ways, mounted normally, or easier to fab a floor cradle? Trying to decide which way to go after I'm done with a couple y-blocks....asking because I read a thread/article back some time ago about a bracket to side mount that made it easier and/or safer. I've always mounted our falcon 6cyl..200s normal. Really didn't understand the need of mounting sideways, but looking  for tips or general  comments on this...

Glad you're asking this question. I expect to tear down my 161 f-head in the near future and remember seeing something here about mounting a six sideways.

I recently re-gasketed a 161 f-head and used an engine stand with a swivel mount. It made the job a whole lot easier.

Thanks! Any particular brand of gaskets or tips to get it sealed up good?
