I have seen the ID plate on Geoffs subject Dragon and the paint code is 098 which is Jade Tint.  099 is listed as Frosted Holly Green.  We have a 1952 Manhattan with the dark green paint and the paint code, although not in front of me at the moment, brings us to tropical green metallic or jade green metallic - I just don't remember at this moment.  The difference noted should be the dark greens are 'metallic' in some listings, and the Dragon color code says 'Jade Tint' not Jade Green.
' Frosted Holly ' would imply a metallic look and Holly leaves are dark green.  The trim code on Geoff's subject Dragon is #5309.

Thanks for the information.  I wonder if a color chart as I often see on ebay would help.  Maybe my old memory of Holly is way off.  You are correct I keep mixing up color names calling Jade Tint Jade Green and so on.

Can you tell me if all of the Dragon colors are metallic or are some non metallic (other than Onyx) ?

Roadmaster....I bought the color chart for 1953 Kaiser on ebay yesterday.  When it gets here next week I'll scan and share it.  The seller mentioned that it included Dragons.  Should be fun to see for all of us.

Happy Holidays my friend...

Here are the color sheets from DuPont issued on April  15, 1953.  See the 4 attached pages.  Only 2 Dragon colors are shown: Jade Tint and Stardust Ivory.  Also, paint code 99 is shown as "Jade Green Metallic" which is the same paint code (99) shown in "The Last Onslaught" for "Frosted Holly Green."  Perhaps these are the same?  I'll continue to look for the missing colors Onyx, Frosted Holly Green and Maroon Velvet that were used on 1953 Dragons.  And it would be great to find an exact color match to the Blue on the Show Dragon for 1953.  I'll post what I find....Happy New Year to all.....Geoff Hacker, Tampa, Florida

Good Job Geoff,
First run was in October 1952. Onyx 096, 097, 098, 106, & 099.

Ivory 106 was first All Vinyl Dragons & then Frosted Holly 099. Starting  at 1100 - 1314 , some 106 was done latter in the run as well. Should be a Laquar Paint. I alway's have ask Paint 999 & Trim 888 how can You know what Color it was ?

You can get an average of what percentage was made when on the list. As We add more it fills in more of the puzzle. If 1 or 2 more Dragons were found We will know.   Still sad they never found a log of what was produced. Even with the interior done at the same place as the Darrin's was made.

I always say You're a Winner if You find One more  or One on the list. It's still here & did not go to the crusher.

I have a Service Bulletin of How to preserve the Sport Top on the Dragon's. It was released Spring 1953. I will post it soon. The Vinyl's was exterior quality so very rugged.
They put a cord in the drip loop like they do on storm screens aluminum frames. This cause the seam's start to deteriorate at times. Today we have stronger glue.

Interesting but not sure it clears up the puzzle of Jade / Frosted Holly.  Just to be clear, it's not a big deal to me either way but it makes for interesting winter reading.   One of the Jade's you have above is clearly much lighter than the other one so I wonder what Spencer was thinking.    The Jade Metallic looks like the Jade I always assumed Jade to be, darker with a hint of silver.  Not as dark as Evergreen.

I've been folowing this thread off & on. Just thought of something that might help. When absolutely nobody could clarify the dash colors on my Aero or correctly match the exterior, this guy came up with the info. Not only that, he mixed the paints in the correct shades and most importantly, the correct subtle vintage metallic.
Not saying he'll have your info but their claim to fame is the largest auto color library in the world, going back to horse drawn wagons.
Might be worth an email.

Hi Roadmaster....

I was just providing info on what I found and am relying on my new/old Kaiser friends and experts to chime in - so we all can learn more.  What I found from the color sheets is that they appeared to have two names for color code "99" - as posted above.  Research is always interesting to pursue and happy to share what I find and collect.

By the way.....who is "Roadmaster49?"  I always appreciate knowing who's chatting - send me a PM if you wish.  You've been great help and I just wanted to say "thanks" and "Happy New Year" too.

:-)

Best....

Hi Gang...

Is there a way to move this thread to the "Dragon" discussion thread and out of the "General Discussion?"

I'm new at this....just curious.

I think You can contact monterater to do this. I have thought General You think would be short subject. You don't think to put it in a class when You start.

I have looked but no find.

On each page though it says Report to Moderator.
I have done this before. I was the one that had suggested him do
Virginians, Hardtops, Convertsbles, & Dragons category.
You can read that in the Dragons some of Our stories like this.

Hay look I am a Sr. Member in the Forum!!!!!

My only initial purpose in placing it in General was so more eyeballs would view it.  More comments for more interesting reading. I felt if I placed in the Dragon section, fewer folks would see it.  The moderator can move it or a new thread can be started.  My initial inquiry has been answered.   Thanks all.

OK, I know some paint stores have a way point to Color & Match Basecoate. Some of the Dragons have Siver & Gold metallics Like the Frosted Holly Green 099. If I remember the Maroon Dragon does to.
Our Green window frame on the Doors also have a Green with Silver & Gold Metallics. Someone told Me that Color. This may be at the end of Last Onslaught in trim section.

Now let's explain what's the subject now. It's good to have good reference for example at a AACA Meet. I have My storie about the All Vinyl Dragon in both back doors. See all Dragons have Bambu Sport Tops Except All Vinyl Dragons Paint 099 & 999 . 099 Has White Poplin Top like Lincoln used on Mk III 1969-1971, & on Contnetal later Town Cars they used Eggshell Color.

On Geoff's Rare Dragon 999 Top Is Boucle like Our AV D inserts Trim 5312 or 1953 Manhattan headliner.

Ok, this is the kicker...  Some call the 999 Dragon Blue, some say Turquoise. His Top is a Rust Color Boucle.
His Trim is 888 this is the same story You hope it looks good enough to keep Original.

Oh Yes the Kicker. I call Kaiser & want a Paint: Pink Dragon, Pink or White Poplin Top. Trim: with White Leather seats. What code Numbers for Paint & Trim plate ?
Paint : 999 Trim: 888 this is a Custom Order.
