Kaiser Forum / Three 54 Kaiser Manhattan questions
« on: January 21, 2020, 07:51:00 PM »
Hi All, hope the Holidays went well for you and that your winter hasn’t been too bad.
Three problems maybe you can help with:
What attaches to and controls the right side interior heater flapper?
What is the ‘rag’ join made of and where can I get one(Lares Said they don’t have one)
How do I get the lock assembly out of the ignition switch?
Thanks for any suggestions or answers.

Kaiser Forum / 54 Manhattan carburetor issues
« on: April 07, 2018, 04:34:41 PM »
Good afternoon All,
Sorry to bring this issue to this forum but I am at my wit's end with a Carter WCD and I am hoping that I can find some relief here on the forum.
The carb runs grossly rich, to the point that it ca foul clean plugs in just the time it takes to warm up.  On occasion I can put clean plugs in and it rums well until I step on it to pass etc. then it will foul the plugs and run poorly. The supercharger is not on it as it has a noise in it so I tries to use a small hot rod air cleaner on the car.  If I set the air cleaner on top of the carb the engine will flood and  stall.
I rebuilt the carb and the problem continued.  I sent the carb to National Carburetors who assured me that they could fix the problem and they sent it back with the metering rods crossed and jammed.  two professional mechanics have attempted to adjust it without success.  I'm lost.  At this point I would just like to find someone to fix it or find a rebuilt one to buy.  Any help you can afford me would be immensely appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Barry

Kaiser Forum / 54 KAISER starter issues
« on: February 22, 2018, 10:39:28 AM »
Good morning All,
Seems that my starter bendix is not extending far enough all of the time.  Sometimes it grabs well, sometimes it just seems to grab enough to intermittently turn the engine and make a lot of grinding noise, and sometimes it just spins.  That bendix came from Mac's Ford I believe and it is not that old.  I am deathly afraid of damaging the ring gear as it is an automatic.  Any ideas or suggestions as to a source for a new bendix would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Kaiser Forum / overheating 1954 Manhattan
« on: May 22, 2017, 08:41:03 AM »
Good Morning all.
My 54 Manhattan's temp gauge has been pegging on hot for several months.  The car is not driven much but it always shows hot.  No other signs of over heating; loss of performance, funny noises, smells, just normal excellent running.  Yesterday I used the kitchen thermometer trick and it read 170 degrees.  What is the operational temperature for this engine?  Could the problem be the sending unit?
Any advice would be great and much appreciated.
Thanks

Kaiser Forum / electric gremlins and questions
« on: May 11, 2013, 07:42:04 PM »
Hi All:
Drove my 54 Manhattan about sixty miles yesterday.  Put it in the garage, turned off the ignition and noticed that the amp light remained lit.  Turned themignition switch to on and the oil lamp came on and the amp light went off.  had to disconnect the battery to get it to go off.  No electrical issue for the past four years.  Any ideas?
Also, just bought a 6 volt positive ground alternator-no instructions included-anyone know to connect  it?  Also what to disconnect of the generator system, voltage regulator etc.
Thanks

Kaiser Forum / Clips for window trim
« on: August 22, 2012, 08:28:14 AM »
I'm sure that this topic has been covered but I can't find anything on it.  Does any one have a supplier for the little clips that hold the stainless trim around the windows?  In the same vein, what is the mastic material that is used in the channels of this trim?
Thanks

I just received and installed vent tubing from Bob's Automobilia (a Buick parts supplier) and it looks great!  Price was excellent also.
