CAR SHOW COMPETITION
« on: September 26, 2020, 02:56:23 AM »
I was among 250 cars in a show at the Edsel Ford Mansion in Michigan.  My Darrin was chosen by the judges to be in the top 16 cars.  Voting now goes to the public in a one on one battle.  This  round pits me against a 1956  Lincoln Continental.
I you would like to help me win this round, please goto this Face book link, click on the pic of my Darrin and then "like"'
Thanks in advance,

Congrats on making the top 16. Pretty tough match-up, especially for being at Edsel's mansion.

This is the concern I have for "Distant" judging and/or similar distant car shows.  I won't participate in them for that reason.   Pictures don't do the Darrin justice.   When people see this car in person, it changes their view of the car.  Pictures are flat and don't represent this car very well, they need to be seen in person and "Experience" this car!!!   You experience the 1st production Fiberglass car, the sliding doors, the design, the colors etc!!!   People also get emotional about this car when seen in person!!  I've seen it often just driving it around, there is something special about this car that doesn't come through in pictures!!!

this was a unique "show" because of covid
I was in the full-blown "eyes" show a few  years ago
one of the events is by visionally challenged who use their hands to judge

I enjoyed voting, if it hadn't been online I would've been totally oblivious.
I viewed the Continental as almost a "ringer" in that venue. My memory could be too fuzzy on this but didn't Edsel have a hand in that model?
If so, the Darrin would be equally hard to beat while competing at either Dutch Darrin or Edgar Kaiser's estate.

Edsel Ford worked with Ford designer Bob Gregory on developing the first Lincoln Continental in 1939.  Edsel passed away in 1943 and had nothing to do with the resurrection of the Continental of 1956.
