Just purchased: Darrin #285
« on: February 11, 2016, 10:32:45 PM »
Greetings,
As a few of you may remember, back in November, a project Kaiser Darrin came up for sale on eBay.  I purchased that car and it arrived almost a month ago. It is Darrin #285 and was originally painted Pine Tint (hence my username). According to the seller, who had the car for 40 years, the car was originally purchased by B movie actress Arline Judge. The seller bought this car from Judge's estate and disassembled the car and placed it in storage. It appears that most of the parts are with the car and I have only found, thus far, a handful of missing pieces though I have yet to go through and label every part. While I will not get to restore this Darrin for a few years, as I have two other cars to restore before the Darrin (both Woodill Wildfires), in the meantime I will be hunting down anything I will need for the car. If anyone has any history/information/photographs of this car from many years ago, please let me know. Also does anyone have the paint codes for a base/clear paint for both the Pine Tint and the Yellow Satin? I contacted PPG attempting to do a paint reference but they were of no help.
    Nick

Yes, the top picture you posted is the Woodill and the bottom picture is the same car that I purchased. I will look for the paint codes today.
    Thanks

I know the gent you purchased the car from. Many years ago he had this car as well as several other Darrins as well as two Muntz Jets stored in a hangar at the airport. When I visited with him and we went to see the cars, he told me I could have any car in the building for $5000. At the time I didn't have $500 so I had to pass. I think you have a good car that can be rebuilt.
