Part to preserve?
« on: April 08, 2017, 12:09:28 PM »
I was at French Lake auto parts this morning and spotted this intact hood trim/ornament with plastic sail-
Wasn't someone looking for one recently?  This was is not badly crazed or cracked  yet but it will be soon sitting out in weather.  Sorry, was with friend and had no tools to try to get it.
Zoom in on the pic and you can see the clear plastic is OK shape yet.

Hello,
I wonder if you be able to save the hood ornament for me as a spare part. I own a 1955 Willys Bermuda and Live in Alberta, Canada
Thanks,
Edward

That yard's quite a ways from me and I'm not planning any trips back in the near future. If I do, I'll let you know. If you contact the yard, they'll likely send it to you.

Yes, the ornament and plastic sail should be saved. The sail is not common and even a well used one, if intact, should be saved. This one looks like a good driver car candidate.

Once upon a time, Mike Fleming had some repro plexiglas sails for that hood ornament. He may still have some.
