I remember that on my Darrin, the original guages looked like the basic 1949-1950 Frazer without the chrome rings and with black instead of red faceplates. I remember that the tachometer inside was clearly a modified Frazer speedometer because the casting and holes for the odometer were still there. I think that the water and oil guages were electric however, though I think that the Frazer's were mechanical (?)
This is memory from the 60's but I clearly remember the speedometer shop showing me the inside of the converted tach/speedometer and laughing about Kaiser's ingenuity. He had to make a cable from the modified distributer to the tach when it broke. He said that they had just cut out part of the housing and fitted a gear there
to the shaft. Thats all that I remember about the guages.
