Going home
« on: September 07, 2019, 09:47:35 PM »
My '53 Manhattan with original paint has this dealership sticker on the trunk.  When I did some research I found that Fountain Motors was a small family dealership in Bellingham, WA, about 35 south of the Canadian border.  I also discovered that the place is still in business, with the same family running it! The car lived until 1987 in Ferndale, WA, a small town north of Bellingham and then was in storage in BC. The other day I drove the car down there and visited the old dealership.  The owners, (the son and grandsons of Ray, the man who sold the car) were very interested and happy to see the car.  They said they've never seen a sticker this old;  this style was apparently dropped in the mid-Fifties.  It was an interesting and fun day.

I was interested to read the previous post to this one, the fellow wanting a picture of a restored solid Jade Green Manhattan.  My car is a 202 paint code, so was originally all-green, but the original owner didn't like it and had the ivory top done in the mid-fifties.

My father had a '53 Manhattan 4-door with the same paint top and bottom colors. Very good looking.
