51 Henry J Headliner Bows wanted
« on: February 19, 2011, 05:56:34 PM »
Trying to put my family's 51 Henry J. back together as original.  Need all the headliner bows so I can install the headliner before I put the front and rear windows back in.  Thanks for any leads.

Thank you for the lead. I will check with Tex's parts.   I do, however, need the end clips to the headliner bows, if any other readers happen to know.  My brother was working on the car and he passed away.  Unfortunately a number of different parts got lost.  Now I'm trying to finish it.

So far, no luck in finding bows and clips for my '51 Henry J.  So, I thought I would ask if anyone has any ideas on a way to fabricate suitable headliner bows and end clips?  For example, I saw a web site advertising headliner bows for 1955 Chevrolets.  The contour is different, but it seems they could be bent.  But how could the ends be fastened to the inside top?

Still not able to find headliner bows and clips.  Getting discouraged.  Are there any alternatives?  Maybe spray foam and adhesive?

You need to email ByronMcdaniel@windstream.net He has the bows and clips and also other Henry J parts. He's prices are expensive, but It's worth it for hard to find parts. Good luck.

Oh well, still no luck with the headliner bows.  Going to explore using fibre board as in new cars.  Also, exploring some kind of expanding spray foam.

Have you talked to Dale Hammon?  I know that Dale has a 1952 HJ that he plans to part out.  He is in the club and lives outside Beloit WI.

I told you months ago to contact Byron Macdaniel@windstream.net. He has the clips and bows. Another member bought a set from him, Mark Steele in Arizona.

No luck on a complete set of the headlining bows after communicating with the referenced persons.  Plan "B" is to attempt to make them out of 1/4-inch rod.  Does anybody know whether any of the Henry J shop manuals would show a pattern and measurements and the number of bows I would need to fabricate for a 1951 Henry J.?

Finally got a set of headlining bows and clips for the Henry J.  Would anyone have any recommendations on where to have a headling made, and also to get windlacing?

I bought some windlace for my Henry J from Kanter.  www.kanter.com  just depends on what color you need.

Whoever you use, make sure you specified a 5 or 6 Bow headliner for the Henry J. Only the 1951 Henry J's used 5 bows. The change to 6 bows  started in the 1952 production year. 1951 Herny J's could be retro-fitted to 6 bow headliner with or without the 6th bow in place.
