I HAVE A SWITCH ON THE SHELF AND I LOOKED AT IT . IT HAD A FLAT EDGE ON THE THREADED PART OF THE SWITCH WHICH LOCKED IT IN THE MOUNTING BRACKET SO I THOUGHT IT WAS LOCKED FROM TURNING . I WILL TRY WHAT YOU HAVE SUGGESTED . I DID TRY TO TAKE A SMALL BLADE SCREWDRIVER AND PUT IT IN THE SMALL SLOT ABOVE AND BELOW THE SWITCH SHAFT AND TAP IT LIGHTLY WITH A SMALL HAMMER BUT IT DIDN;T MOVE . I WAS AFRAID TO TAP IT TOO HARD . THANKS FOR THE TIP . I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF IT WORKS .

Make a tool to use on the bezel.
Start with a small thin-wall metal tube that has an ID slightly larger than the diameter of the shaft, and longer of course.
Use a grinder/Dremel to remove metal so that two prongs the size of the slots in the bezel  remain (180 deg. apart).
Use pliers to turn the tool or fashion a handle with a small rod inserted crossways thru the tube.
Got it??

A snap ring tool works perfectly and you will need one eventually. Not expensive.

O.K.  I GOT IT OFF . I TRIED THE SNAP RING PLIERS TRICK THE OTHER DAY BUT FORGOT TO MENTION IT. I TRIED SEVERAL SIZES OF 90% SETS AND THEN SOME STRAIGHT ONES . WHILE DRIVING FOR 7 HOURS AND THINKING ABOUT IT I TRIED TWO SMALL BLUNT TIPED PUNCHES STUCK STRAIGHT INTO THE TWO SMALL SLOTS . THEN TOOK AN ADJUSTABLE WRENCH CLOSED TIGHT ON THE PUNCHES . IT WORKED . I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR HELP .
