« on: October 24, 2012, 08:51:47 PM »
I spoke to our friend Tom Quirk this evening. He no longer has an ID on here so I offered to post this ad for him:

1953 Kaiser Manhattan - A "20 footer"; 3spd/OD; 99k miles; Creme over Jade Green; Excellent original interior except for front seat cloth; brought back to life after sitting 15 years by previous owner but still needs elec. and mech. work that arthritis in hands/joints are finding difficult to do; Engine runs but could stand a rebuild; many spare and extra parts including front/rear glass, tail lights, trim, starter, water pump, visor and more;  A complete set of used 54 tail lights;  New radials, KF wire set, cap, rotor, points, plugs, condenser, regulator; rebuilt carb and generator;  all lights/options working except heater and radio; has working back-up lights; comes with shop & owners manuals as well as elec. and carb. charts and some 53 ads.  Bring a rig and $2500 and it's all yours!  Tom Quirk KF#6860 Liverpool, NY tsquirk@hotmail.com

Are you looking for my phone number or Tom Q's (the  person who has the car for sale)?

Just received word from Tom Q. Due to health reasons he wants to get the car sold. According to his message, the price is now $2500 firm. I edited the original post to reflect this as well.

Does anyone know if this car has sold???  I tried calling, but no answer.

OK, I had a nice long chat with Tom today. Nice guy - I hope he finds a home for this car. It would cost me outrageous (near what it's worth) to have it shipped to me.

I'm now logged on thanks to FID, Barb, Mike K. and Chris.  Thanks for all of their help on here.  I can no longer work on the car, so hoping to find a new home for it asap.  Please call if interested, thanks.  tq

A standard rate, considering price of fuel these days, is between $2-3 a mile for commercial services.  It was not long ago that Mack boasted that their Maxidyne truck engines were breaking the 10MPG barrier on a regular basis.  Those of you with medium duty pick-ups (F-250 to F-350 classes) I'm sure can relate.

It has just been sold to a local gentleman.  I can't thank Barb, Lowell and Carl enough for all of their efforts, without that, this would not have been possible.  Thanks again.  Tom
