« on: December 28, 2012, 01:18:57 PM »
Have not seen one but,but condidering the absence of alternative,I give them a really, really big "THANK YOU"
now if someone would just make the round K" medallions for the 52-54 rear.

Script and similar flat trim items are not that hard to work up because of the flatness.  A good core box person could do a really nice job because you can use an actual part (it can be pitted is you smooth the core box sufrace out after pattern).   It gets tricky when you have thin walls with shapes (like the cap like cover for the original 1951-52 Virginian holes on the 1952-54 Corsair platform).  It could be stamped but you need a precision cut die.

I haven't personally seen the HJ script, but John Kepich who makes these is a KFOCI member here in NC (he painted my 54 Kaiser too).  He's done a large number of the scripts already and they are beautiful!  They are hand polished 341 aluminum and look exactly like chrome...honestly, you'd think they were NOS chrome pieces.  His doing these esp for the 49-51 Frazers is a HUGE benefit to club (and not club) members who own these cars!  I hope he is supported in his efforts.  I think the HJ scripts will go over HUGE with the rodders!!

If I read the information on the eBay post correctly, these are PLASTIC and cannot be used on a Henry J unless the script holes are filled in completly and re-drilled (it says open up a slightly smaller hole and insert).  They are designed for hot rod use NOT as restoration materials for actual HJ automobiles.

Jack, I'm not refering to the plastic ones which are also offered on e-bay and I agree with your comment.  This is the one I'm referring to from corsairdeluxe at the start of this topic string above:

Put a stainless one on a car alongside a plated one on a car and you will see a difference, especially as time goes by.   The Chief Judge will have to PUBLICALLY STATE IN PRINT if the stainless script items are approved from a judging standpoint.

I sent this question about the plastic scripts
"Are the pins in the same location as the original pins, or do I have to drill new holes?"
And this is his answer
"The dash may need a new hole, so cover the old hole by positioning the script to cover it and fit into one existing hole.
 Kenny"
The finish looks spotty when blown up. Henry.
