54 K inner trunk brace
« on: March 30, 2013, 08:19:27 PM »
I need the inner bracing for a 54 Manhattan trunk lid. More specifically, the lower trunk inner brace for the lid. Mine is rusted out. The outer skin of the trunk lid is great.

Rather than rebuild the existing lid, a lid from any 1953-55 Kaiser will fit the body and mount on the same hinges - and has the same handle.  The 1951-52V- 52 lid is essentially the same piece of metal but used external hinges so it's drilled for them.  The 1951 and 1952 Virginian had a large handle & license plate holder on the lid too so it wouldn't be a great choice.

Since I didn't find a trunk lid or inner bracing that was any good I rebuilt my inner bracing. Yes it was a few hours of welding and grinding, but now I know it's rust free. After I finished doing the welding and grinding I found 2 NOS trunk lids. One will be mine and the other will stay in the members stash. Thank you for responding.
