Signal Switch
« on: October 29, 2014, 11:43:47 PM »
Working on a 53 Aero Eagle for another club member and there is just a hole in the column where the signal arm would be with no switch behind it .  Are those available, same as jeep ? or are we stuck with one of those clamp on type ?

Turn signals were an option in 1953 and many cars were not equipped with them.  Try finding a parts car or advertising in the Bulletin or checking with the Willlys experts to see if kits are available.  They are really nice to have on our cars.

Here's the part you're looking for but this one has an outrageous price even at 2 Reals per dollar. I bought a new one for about $60 on Mercado a couple years ago.

I may have a spare used one. PM me if you'd like me to take a look.

It turns out I may need a switch as well....does anyone repair them ? Also an interesting issue, according to the wiring diagrams, a car that had signals had the brake light circuit run through the signal switch.. Nothing is shown for a car not equipped.  How was that circuit run ?

Could you post a photo of the directions?

Also, what's the date on the newspaper?

I bought a set of NOS '54 headlight rings in a factory box several years ago and they were also wrapped in newsprint. Headline was "Hawaii admitted to the Union"
