I have this car's clone in my barn. Mine, however, was subjected to daily use...including salty winters...and after 314K miles, it's well worn. But, with a perfect interior it's too good to just throw away. A car like the one for sale would work to swap in all of those things it needs from my car. Two to make one. But, at $3500 plus to cost to get it here I would be too far in the hole to make it a viable project.

Thanks for posting the add!! It's hard to find 64 year old cars with no rusted out panels, i think. It's really a shame the motor is shot. It would have been nice to drive it once and awhile. It could still be a project for a father and son team to drop a newer V-8 into and cruise. I'm new to this forum and don't know how to post the add.

A good rebuilt 226 engine (set up for s/c) would probably cost less than a V-8 insertion if you figure in the cost of cutting up the engine compartment, re-designing linkages and working out how to clear the steering box as well as a good rebuilt V-8 engine.  At least that's what I have found in the past.

I MIGHT AS WELL, I'M NOT GETTING ANY NIBBLES ON MY ADDS. I'VE DONE ALL THE DISSASEMBLY. LOOKS LIKE I'D NEED A BLOCK. 3 WELDS ALL FAILED BEFORE I BOUGHT IT, UNKNOWN BY ME. THE CAM IS PRETTY SHOT, LIFTERS, 2 REPLACEMENT PISTONS. EVERYTHING ELSE LOOKS GOOD.
THE CAR IS OUTSIDE IN MY BUDDIES CONSTRUCTION YARD AND THAT IS 20 MILES FROM WHERE I LIVE. THAT'S WHY I'D RATHER BE DONE WITH IT.
