Thanks for all replies -- the car is located in Merced , Calif --- Central San Joaquin Valley area ----  Mark 209-617-8554

Hi Mark and welcome.
Regarding the tires, the Henry J uses a 5.90 for bias ply.  Sears was still selling tires out of their catalog in the 1990s but I don't think they are any more. It might be worth a check just the same.  The carburettor for a six cylinder is a Carter YF 833 and it looks just like the one used on the four cylinder which is a YF 823. The 823 will not work right a the six - it's different inside. I don' t know of a source for one right now but I'm sure you will get lots of information here.  Best of luck and keep checking back.

I've just purchased a 1953 Allstate (4cyl) to re-do. Please contact me as I may have extra parts you'll need. Dan, knee55@aol.com

Here's a carb for it -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carter-YF-1-Barrel-Carburetor-Carb-Core-833-SA-833SA-1951-1952-1953-1954-Henry-J-/172050787341?hash=item280f06ac0d:g:sx8AAOSwFqJWipe9&vxp=mtr#ht_133wt_1124

It looks a bit rusty and the price a bit steep maybe... I don't know. If someone needs one it may be one of the few options.
Good to "see' you Dan - how's your Allstate coming along?

I have a complete HJ (same as Allstate) 6 cyl carb available. I would like to sell the carb along with the complete 86K mile engine for $350. However, I will part out the carb and oil bath air cleaner for $145 plus shipping. Will post image soon.

I thought you might enjoy the attached PDF file. I recently bought an old stack of Popular Mechanics and Science and Mechanics magazines. In the June 1952 issue of Science and Mechanics I found this article on a review of the "New Allstate".

Enjoy.

KFOCI Club members get a CD called KFOCI HANDBOOK when they join.  It is a perk for becoming a member.  In it you will find the Kaiser-Frazer Service Bulletin with a list of Allstate-specific parts.  Anything you need that is not on that list is Henry J. You will also find info on the cars themselves in the general information section.

Sears Roebuck & company scrapped out their Allstate parts inventory prior to 1962.

I would suggest that you have the Allstate-specific brightwork cleaned up and re-chromed if at all possible (grille parts, emblems).

I have a dual action now -- I just found a repair kit with a diaphragm that looks like it was NOS from the 50's -- I'm thinking that rubber won't survive with today's fuel ???????

Do not waste your time. Several of us have used this on the 6 cyl. HJ with good resultsand it withstands todays gasohol. You may have to change the lines. it's no big deal. Rockauto sometimes has really good prices
