Rear window rubber
« on: March 25, 2016, 08:28:35 AM »
Hello KF world. I have another question for you guys. I test fit the front and rear window rubber seals I got from Rudy and the front on fit perfectly. The rear fits well everywhere except the lower corners. Seems like the rubber has a 90° but the window opening is quite a bit wider angle. I can probably do a little light trimming to take the point off the angle and then it will lay down if I open it up enough to fit. My question is, has anyone else run into this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Not yet. Wanted to see if it was a common issue first.

Yes replaced the rear window in a 53 Deluxe using one of the same gaskets. Both lower corners have a weird stretch to them. It seems the gasket is set at 90 degrees but the window corner is a wider angle. It looks a little funny to me but no one else has really noticed. It has been six years and it hasn't gotten any worse or split. I'll just leave it alone.

Update: Rudy did some looking and the angle of the corners were off quite a bit. He offered a refund but I wanted to try and install. After test fitting it I decided to trim the point of the lower corner just slightly. I then installed it without much trouble. I waited a day and then ended up trimming the outside of the lower corner to get it to lay down but all and all it looks OK. Close inspection will show some irregularities but very minor.
