'48 Frazer with leather interior
« on: July 20, 2016, 01:57:53 PM »
While speaking with Rudy Phillips at the National Meet in Springfield he mentioned that he had recently purchased a late '48 Frazer Manhattan with leather interior.  He said that the car is complete and is a rust free desert car with only surface rust on the paint and it has a very high serial number which was about 200 numbers  above the latest Frazer serial number in the Registry.  The interior is all there for patterns but was badly dried out from the desert heat.  This seems to be a very unusual car to restore and he is asking only $1,000 for it.  If interested contact Rudy at 1 760 789 3608 or rudyskfparts@sbcglobal.net.  He said that if he does nor sell it soon he will part it out which is too bad as that car could be a very unusual collectible.  Some late Kaiser Customs also had the leather interior option.  The car is located near San Diego in Southern CA.

Yes Rudy mentioned that car to me last summer trying to get me to purchase it.  I don't know about others but be thankful for Rudy purchasing these orphans.  Otherwise, they might be crushed.  He is up against it on room.

I am glad he still has it. I emailed him a couple of weeks ago and asked about that car and he did not reply about that car.  I like 49 Frazers a lot and I was mulling a 1-2 punch, with this Manhattan and a 48 Manhattan I know he has.

Anybody want a beat up old Triumph?  I would need the space where it sits.

I surely wanted that 999/888 Dragon but for me it appears I will have to go the more pedestrian route.  But, if one is to go the old slabsider route, it is fun to get a special order car like the leather interior Manhattan, and a 49 Manhattan.

TR4.  1962

I put it on 3 area craigs lists at a price below what I have in it. So far, nothing. It's a rare car, there are no other TR4's on the craigs lists I placed it on in any condition.

In my old situation I had a 3 car temperature controlled garage, a very nice man cave and my 49 Virginian fit in one stall very nice. I had outside parking for another 3 cars or more, with small town lack of concern although I did cover my outside cars and neatly store them.

Now I have a dilapidated 2 car garage but a nicer home.  I could restore the garage and do 2 cars in there, with some winter work in the basement, but need to move the Triumph in order to buy a couple of cars from Rudy.

The Triumph was purchased because a person can do 99% of the work themselves as the car is so small. I lifted the hood off and placed it on a stand myself.  Try doing that with a 49 Frazer hood.

Rudy sent me an interesting story about this car along with some pictures of it.  It looks like an easy one to restore and the price is now $950.  Rudy doesn't want to sell the parts from it but of course they will bring far more than the whole car will and that must be his plan if someone doesn't buy it.  I am not very computer literate but if anyone is seriously interested please email me and I will try to forward his pictures and mail information.

I've got my ads up to sell the TR4 is 3 markets (Craigs List) with no takers, not even an offer below my asking. Just very people in this culture doing any projects.  The Triumph TR's are supported by Chevys, Camaros and so on. But unless people are restoring cars, then I have to think some of the parts suppliers merge or go out of business.

I just received an offer on my TR4 at $1700.  Only a $1000 loss.  But it was a soft offer, so who knows if he was just testing to see what I thought or not.

I suppose Rudy has parted the leather seats out.

Car does not run but is not in horrible shape. It is a sort of car you buy to do a full on restoration. The leather seating and Manhattan features seperate it from normal slab siders to restore.  Price is right.  Rudy has photos.
