Hi David, the 4 cylinder engine has a much longer stroke and sits much higher so an air cleaner from a 6 cylinder will not fit due to that reason. The four cylinder has an air cleaner that fits on the carb and is offset and requires a support to the engine mount to stablize it. It looks like this -
The six cylinder has a much shorter stroke and sits lower in the engine compartment and it is quite different than the four. It looks like this -

Also, just some more FYI, the carburettors are different too. They look exactly the same but are different inside (larger passages etc.). The four uses a Carter YF820 and the six uses a YF833. Putting a YF820 on a six doesn't work very well.
