Kaiser Forum / Frozen '53 Dragon Thermostat
« on: October 21, 2019, 09:58:00 PM »
Is there a trick to getting a frozen thermostat out?  Can't budge the one that's in there, and engine overheats readily.  Appreciate any ideas or tips.  Thank you very much

Don't know the official colors, but light green body with dark green vinyl roof.  Green cloth and vinyl interior.  Don't know about the Dragon List.  I have the original title paperwork.

Parts For Sale & Wanted / Parts needed for 53 Dragon
« on: June 06, 2016, 10:32:21 AM »
Working on getting my Dragon into roadworthy condition.  Does anyone have any or all of the following parts for sale?  I promise a loving and caring home for them, :)
1.    Rear brake drums.  The ones on the car are too far out of round to be turned.
2.    Passenger side front door latching mechanism.
3.    Generator
4.    Functional, non-leaking Hydramatic transmission
5.    Driver side, door mounted rearview mirror
6.    Hood hinges

I really appreciate your ideas and support.  Went to our first meet last month (mid-Atlantic) and had a great time.

Thank you very much.

Thank you three for your VERY helpful and insightful responses.  This forum is really a godsend to guys like me because you provide explanations along with your answers. Sometimes I feel like a dunce, sometimes I don't.  In any event, I want to be able to enjoy my Dragon throughout retirement and will be counting on you for support.  Thank again!  ;D

Kaiser Forum / Gas requirement
« on: April 11, 2016, 08:32:14 AM »
OK, so here's how much of a newbie I am.  I have put gas in my '53 Dragon once.  I got high octane, leaded gas at $8.50 a gallon.  Question is can I use unleaded gas, and if so, what grade?  I am thinking high octane premium.  I am hoping to drive the car to the Mid-Atlantic Regional meeting next month and don't want to run out of gas en route :)  Thank you for your continuing Forum Support!

Kaiser Forum / Looking for a 53 Dragon power steering cylinder

Does anyone know where one of these might be?  Seems it's what I need to get my car back on the road.  Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.  Thank you very much!

Thank you for that information.  I have just looked through all the paperwork on the car, and it looks as though the CD I got when I joined the club did not make the move with the car and me to Delaware this summer.  Is there a way to purchase another copy of the CD?

Are the parts still available?  If so, I am interested.

Kaiser Forum / 53 Dragon Power Steering Leak

What I thought was a transmission leak has turned out to be a power steering leak.  That seems like a good thing (comparatively speaking).

The shop manual I have does not have any information about the power steering unit.  Any advice on where to find that kind of information and parts for repair or replacement?

Thank you very much!

Major issue was a transmission leak and I am wary about running it without knowing the fluid level. I wonder how many years I'd have been looking for that dip stick if you hadn't been there and willing to help.  Thank you, gentlemen!

It's a good thing I'm not afraid to look like an idiot.  When I got the hood open,I expected to find a transmission dip stick and fill tube.  Is there a secret portal that I'm just not seeing?  Again, thank you for your help.

What a team!  Thank you very much for helping initiate this newbie into the not so secret K/F life.  I am so excited to be getting started fulfilling my lifelong dream.  I look forward to retiring on the 1st of January with my Dragon as my first line of enjoyment and satisfaction.  I cannot say how much it means knowing that when I have a question -- no matter how basic -- you all are there to provide support, knowledge, and the occasional kick in the seat of the pants.  Ghanks, again ;)

I will dutifully wear my dunce cap the rest of the day -- of not the rest of my life.  That was so hard to pull that I was afraid of breaking something.  It did ultimately pop the hood, and I am in and under ;D  Thank you again for guiding me through this.  I have the manuals, but they are in our household goods as we move this week.  I have to add transmission fluid and oil.  Do you have guidance on types and weights?  Sorry to be such a pest.

Thanks for the ideas!  The latch doesn't seem to be connected to anything.  There is a well greased spring next to it, but the latch itself moves freely and on its own.  There's a cable inside the cabin?  The only thing I can see is the choke.  I have opened it using the under hood latch in the past, but nothing seems to move now.  Real appreciate having you on the other end of the post :)
