Nice, Lester.  You sure get out a lot!  I still have not been able to get mine back to the transmission guy to stop the leak, so I have not been out much.

Kaiser Forum / Re: Spark plug wires

I would be interested.   A few years ago I changed the spark plug wires on my '54 (supercharger is not installed) to the original solid types sold through the Bulletin, and ever since then, the temperature gauge on the dash reads 1/4 higher than it ever did.  It used to hover about the halfway mark, now it's always 3/4 or so.  It never overheats or boil over.  I thought perhaps the car had hotter plugs with the old wires, and once I changed the wires, now it runs too hot!

Thanks for posting.   It brought back some great memories of my first National Meet!

As near as I can tell, yes.  I have a '54 and knew the front bumper was from the '51 so I've been studying them, but never had them apart to compare.

It was great fun, my first National Meet and I saw more KF cars in one place than I have ever seen.  Great job to all those who worked to hard to organize it.

And I was very careful, nothing broke, but it was interesting how the plastic lens cannot be removed.  I posted a few photos on my Facebook page of the work.

I did remove the pillar lights and cleaned them up.  The slide switch still has no effect, but at least they slide a bit easier now.

How do you remove the pillar light, or plastic cover?  I have no instructions, and I dare not pry at it unless someone tells me how to do that so I don't break anything.  Thanks for any instructions you can post.

Sorry, I have been busy and not on this site very much.  Dave Hollen in PA has some.  As I tried to replace mine, I broke off the tab that holds the spring in place and it could not create the proper spring tension, so I had to ........uhhhh...... rig something up and they are working fine.  I posted some photos of it on my Facebook page.   You may have already seen them.

I wondered about the pillar lights myself.  The slide switch on the pillar lights has no effect.  Front doors work the under dash lights, rear doors work the pillar lights, underdash toggle switch only operates underdash lights when the doors are closed.  Should you be able to turn on the pillar lights by themselves?  It would seem to be a great idea.

Parts For Sale & Wanted / Interior door handle springs
« on: September 02, 2011, 11:52:23 AM »
Hey from Georgia.  Does anyone know where to find replacement springs for the interior door handles on a '54?  Neither of my front door inside handles will spring back to the closed position and must be pushed back manually for the door to latch.  I pulled the driver door panel and can see the broken spiral spring and how the handle latch is supposed to press against it.  Any info on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry you cannot make it from Washington State.  It is not too far from me and I hope to be able to attend this one.  Mapquest shows it as 135 miles from my house, taking 2 hours and 45 minutes via GA 5 and TN 68 and avoiding the interstate.  Not too bad.  It will be my first National if I can make it with my '54.

I just received my "new" glove box from Terry Z and it looks great with all the tabs, cutouts and reinforced screw holes.  Maybe I can change it out when it is cooler in the garage tonight!  Awesome!

I hope everyone has a great time and that no hard luck awards need to be given out.  I wish I had the time and money to attend.  Maybe next year since it will be close to where I live.
