Darrin Wiring diagram
« on: June 13, 2017, 10:37:37 PM »
Does anyone have a Darrin wiring diagram. I assume I may have to replace the entire harness and I am in the market for one for a reasonable price but in the meantime I would like to chase down the circuits and see how bad my current harness is. It looks like a previous owner wired in some tractor taillights using lamp cord. The advantage was it was easy to see what wires did not belong, now I need to find out why they thought that was necessary, it may have only been there for towing purposes.

Thanks,

Warren

Hi Warren, new wiring is available. If you are not a member of KFOIC, I suggest you join. The monthly bulletin has information on suppliers for what you are looking for. I also suggest you look back through the older posts on this Forum. You will find answers to many , if not all of you questions.

Rhode Island Wiring lists the Darrin harness complete or in 5 subsections. They did a beautiful job on my Aero harness in modern wire covered with original looking correct color coded cloth with proper connectors at all points, and a wiring diagram. They also did the wires sets in my light sockets including new springs & phenolic washers/bases. They were great to work with too, even the receptionist really knew her stuff.

The only one to go to is Bob McBride, he is a member and has been doing wiring for Kaisers etc. for many years and is very reasonable on pricing.   His number is 772-466-3510.   He lives in Florida and will ask you for all the socket ends and will install them for you.  He will also give you a wiring diagram for when you are ready to re-install the harness.   He did my wiring for my Darrin.

I am a member of the club, I joined several months ago. I looked at the Rhode Island Wiring site a few weeks ago but the prices, about $2k for the harnesses are bit more than I hoped to pay. I will check with Bob McBride and see what he can do. I was hoping not to cut my current harness apart until I got something back to replace it, I still hold out hope to get it running this summer. I am starting to trace out the wires to see if I have problems with any circuits before firing up, a wiring diagram would make that much easier.

I join Darrin502 and his comments re jake.
Same type of posts on AACA Forum under nick8086.

Maybe, just maybe, if we all agree to ignore meaningless posts they may vanish, just like so many that he deletes sometime after posting them.

One such post had disappeared just moments before I tried to show my wife a non sequitur.

I've recently taken to using the "Quote" feature when posting in a thread with a high likelyhood of one of the (very few) contributors later redacting themselves out. It locks in their comments to counter the abuse of the forum by chronically editing their part of the conversation out later.

I appreciate the help I get here on the forum from everybody. I also understand that there are always posts from people that are not so helpful or or don't add anything to the group but it goes with the territory. I agree with Terry, let's just ignore what is not good and thank everyone who truly helps.
