Darrin Fuel Pump

I need to acquire a new fuel pump. Any suggestions on where to purchase? I assume they are mfg by Carter. Thoughts on an electric fuel pump. ... thanks in advance.

The original pump would be an AC 9815. If you have a good core, I recommend having it rebuilt. These folks do a great job at about the same price as buying questionable NOS.

The unfortunate thing about the NOS ones you are getting from evilbay IF they do pop up is that they have old guts! It will deteriorate rapidly from todays fuel; especially after sitting for such a long time...They will end up needing rebuilt very soon anyway...order the kit and do it yourself...they are not difficult, just need patience.

First of all, thanks for all your constructive comments with respect to the fuel pump. The current Carter fuel pump on the car looks old and on the flange has the numbers MO-735. that number does not seem to register with any Carter fuel pumps in my search. Thoughts please and thank you again.

I sent them an old pump, came back looking like new and they use better than original springs & valves.

Bob, I called Then-and-now and spoke to one of the guys when I did mine. They will ask you for all the numbers and send you the kit or tell you to send it in and they'll match it...The numbers from mine(#388) Body MO-673...Plunger arm when removed(M177 83), Flange mount base on the edge(M893SA or M898SA/looking at a blurry reference pic)...I got the correct kit for said pump and did it myself. Ran into one snag, the 2 inner flat head screws wouldnt budge from sitting for 50 years(surpise), spent 3 weeks in PB blaster...sent it to them to finesse them out and didnt burn me with ridiculous labor and was able to finish with ease...They are extremely helpful!

I took the fuel pump off the car and found the flange number (M884s) if that helps establish the fuel pump as original to the Darrin.

Finally found my pics...This is what was on mine. With my Fords, the casting #s are all different for the same part...I don't know if that holds true to Carter...

I got a NOS fuel pump from "Mobile Parts", Craig Studnick out of New York. If you have been to pretty much any Carlisle event or Hershey, you may already know him. He told me it was the last one he had a line on but I think he can find a rebuild kit if needed.  I am going to check with him next week at Carlisle to see if he can find me an oil pump and/or a water pump. I did get a water pump rebuild kit from him earlier this summer, but if I can get a water pump that is already done, so much the better. If I do need to rebuild mine, I need a retention clip, if anyone knows where to get one.

For $195 I guess I will try rebuilding mine.  Not that I know there is anything wrong with it now, but since I screwed up the clip getting it out, I need to at least find one of those.

I had conversation with cardone and they understood the importance of the 58461 pump.
Next venture MIGHT be fuel tanks maybe, maybe not i could probably get them around the 63doller mark.
