Henry J hood springs
« on: January 12, 2018, 11:24:13 AM »
I had a hood spring break on our 52 Henry J.  While searching for a replacement I found a trampoline spring on e-bay. It was the same length, dia of wire and same number of coils. The only diffrence was it had a diameter of 1 inch instead of 3/4 inch, but it was tapered on the ends so I ordered a set. No more hood scraping the cowl when you open the hood, which it would do with the old springs when they wern't broken. I had to get a set of 20 but it was only $17.99 for 20. If anyone is interested the e-bay number is 162366905180.

Thanks. This could be very helpful as I've broken them too. Don't need one now but I'll make a note.

jap tin: What type of a tool did you use to remove and install the spring?

I used a old brake spring tool and a screw driver.. If you lower the hood part way it's easier.
