Kaiser owners wanted
« on: October 17, 2010, 10:12:12 AM »
Hi there!
Since today we are the proud owners of a kaiser special 1947. Our question is if there are any other owners known on this forum that live in the Netherlands or in Belgium. We would like to get in touch, so we can share information and handy tips to restauring our new baby.

Thanx in advance.

The latest KFOC member roster lists one member in Belgium (Rumst) and one member in Netherldands (Oude Tonge). If you would like their contact information, send me a private message as I don't want to post someone's person information on here.

Welkom!  I hope you find the other members in your area.  Club members are always happy to help answer questions on this forum--it's a really good site.

@kaiserfrazerlibrary: I will do my best to post the numbers off the firewalltags sometime next week, when we have picked our beauty up!

Received the mail and replied. Hope it helps.
I've spent time in Maastricht, Heerlen and Kerkrade.  Also in Liege and Gent.  Beautiful country!

I have the firewall bodytag numbers:

model: 100| body: 5| paint: 782| trim: 550|
R:6| K:I| T:R| R:A| A:N|     23
21F0130  132  7
H:R| C:L| D:R|S:L| spec. fo. | C:R| sched.| item|

Bodynumber: 24281

I also have the serial number from the door: K-100-024126

Hope this makes any sense?

As far as I can read it, it is a K100 (47 Kaiser) 5 (4 door sedan) in 782 (Speedwing Gray)  you can see the colour here.

And it looks like this car has never before been reported!! Here is the link to the registry listing:

Other people will tell you more about the car. Welcome!!

Some of the numbers appear to be garbled, but these seem to make sense

132 and 7 should be the SCHED and ITEM numbers for your car.  As far as things can be determined so far, the numbers indicate that the body started down fabrication in the early spring of 1947; body serial number will vary slightly from the door post number.

F0130  should be the FOREIGN ORDER number.  This number, like the 132 and the 7 should be ABOVE the headers, SPEC-FO (for Special-Foreign Order), SCHED (for Schedule) and ITEM (for item).

DR should have the 2 below it to show that DELIVERY ROUTING was to the Export area rather than parked for rail or truck shipment to a stateside dealership.

TR should also be a 2 for TRANSMISSION, a 3 speed manual with no overdrive.

RA was used on 1947 models to designate the REAR AXLE ratio of the car; a 3 indicated a 3.73:1 rear axle ratio.

You may also have a number under KI for Killometer Instrumentation;  is your speedometer set up with a scale to 120 or 160 (120 is mph, 160 kph).

Dutch is close enough to English that I can get a good part of what is there. Like reading Chaucer's Old English, you just ignore how words are spelled and go with what is being said. That car will look nice with some polishing and cleaning up, and bit of repair. There are a few members of the KFOCI club who live in Holland and Belgium. I don't think any of them are on the Forum however.

Most of the club members do not use this.

Hi Elly,

If you become a member of the KFOCI Club (it is your choice) then you will receive information and publications (monthly pamphlet--in paper or perhaps by internet) quarterly magazines, and things such as the annual Club calendar, Club Roster of all member worldwide, and also a very good resource in a CD disk which is the Handbook, which is all the information about all models, including pictures and more. This used to take up a binder nearly 10 cm thick, so there is a LOT of information. At one time, Kaiser assembled cars in Rotterdam. There are or have been members in Holland, Belgium, England, Germany and Switzerland and perhaps other places in Europe
