Any Kaiser Frazer owners near here?
« on: December 30, 2012, 02:16:48 PM »
I own a 1953 Allstate and was wondering if there are any Kaiser Frazer owners near me. I live in North Carolina, Wilkes county.

Welcome to the chat room Allen.  Are you a member of KFOCI?  I've been in since 1982.

There are a couple of members here in the WS area and I have a friend who lives in Stuart, VA who has a nice Kaiser Virginian.

You have a very rare car there.  I know where Elkin is as I go to Hamptonville quite a bit on business.

Hope you will rejoin!  Yes, John & Dorothy Minkema.  Now that I think about it, he mentioned meeting you at the Yadkinville cruise I think.

Gordie… I watched with great interest when your ALLSTATE came up for sale on ebay. It looked like  it was worthy of the time and money necessary to restore it. You cannot really tell from the ebay information. I am in Florida and the car was in SoCal.That was a big no in my case. Please tell us what you found when you bought it and brought it home.

That's interesting,  I had to go to Florida to buy my Graham Paige Frazer but it took four days to get there and back from Missouri with my truck and trailer.  It is a nice original car and was worth the trip.  The Allstate was just about 150 miles from Los Angeles so was easy to retrieve.  It turned out that I knew the seller who is a restorer and runs across unusual cars in his area.  My Allstate was a mostly original car that was sold new in Santa Barbara CA and had been sitting in a garage for over forty years.  The seller had obtained it from the grandson of the original owner.  This is probably the earliest surviving 4 cylinder car and has no trunk like the early Henry J's.  The mechanic did nothing cosmetically but got the car running and the brakes operational.  I ended up getting a new carb. and fuel pump but have not done anything else except try to find some hubcaps and a few missing parts.  The car is rust free and was repainted and re upholstered at some point in its life and to be show ready would need that redone.  For now I intend to get it running well and do paint and chrome first.  I have a nice set of Allstate whitewalls on my Willys so plan to put those on the Allstate and just do a slow cosmetic restoration.  If anyone is interested in starting an Allstate registry I will be glad to participate and furnish any needed information on my car.  I hope someone will take it on!  Gordie

I agree an Allstate registery would be nice. I no this may be a dumb question but how do i figure out what number my car is? I asumme it is something to do with the vin number or body number? My car is a 53 4 cylinder overdirve with trunk lid. I wil try to put pictures on here when i figure out how.
