Very clean looking early '47 Kaiser on ebay
« on: August 22, 2016, 10:54:55 AM »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Kaiser-Special-/391539409151?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b299140ff:g:9W4AAOSwaB5Xuivw&item=391539409151

It's an early one with the 'Special' script on the trunk lid, round shift knob and KAISER on the hubcaps.   Very clean looking. This would make a nice car.

The Special was the only model Kaiser had when first introduced in late 1946. Later in the 1947 model year the Custom was added - more to have an upscale Kaiser alongside the fancier Frazer Manhattan.

Hey guys, this is the 3,189th Kaiser built and has all of the earliest features.  Look at the early trunk lock and script hubcaps and beautiful accessory hood ornament.  This would be a great one to save and it just may be the earliest Kaiser survivor.  If you live on the East coast this would be a great project!

Two notes on looking at engine compartment. Cylinder head says Kaiser 226--wasn't that the designation for the 1954-1955 engine? Also the one barrel carb is clearly installed on a standard later model 2 bbl carb intake manifold with a block off and adapter plate for the single barrel unit. It may have had an engine replacement (or at least the head and manifold) but it is still a nice looking car.

Good eye...it is a later engine. The 226 head was used in the 54-55 cars.

Wonder how it would perform if they put the Supercharger on it?  ;)

Good catch on the engine  OLDNMKFR.  I didn't even look at that. The original engine would have the fuel pump at the rear so yes, the engine was changed.

Jerry

The serial number was listed and pictured in the description of the car.  Be sure and see all of the many photos in the description.  It is a lower serial number than the one on my Graham-Paige Frazer so the car was probably built in 1946. Most literature on the heaters indicate that they were installed with a defroster but the defroster was also sold separately as I have one in the box. This car has an aftermarket heater installed but the left side top of the dash wiper knob is present but the right one has a chrome plug covering the hole in the dash as is on my Frazer although it has a factory heater.

The car sold for $3800 which I think both the seller and buyer should be happy with. With no rust and only what seems to be cosmetic issues to deal with, it sounds like a good car. I hope a club member bought it, or at the very least someone who intends to join the club, and they bring it to a meet.
