access to master cyl and auto trans filler caps 54 KM

To me it was a horrible time-consuming job to pull the carpeting from the front of the dash back far enough to get access to the master cyl and auto trans fillers.  I decided to cut the carper from where the tunnel curves upward, back along where the tunnel and floor pan meet, back to almost the front seat. I then finished the cut edges with carpet edge trim.  Then held the edges down on both sides of the tunnel with two chrome trim screws each side.  Now to check either the master cyl or auto trans fluids, I only have to remove the 4 trims screws, fold the carpet back, do my check, and fold the carpet back up and reinstall the 4 screws. 
I should have asked before I did this, but has anyone else solved this problem differently?  And how so?  Or is anyone laughing at this?

As someone who recently looked for these (at least the trans port) and couldn't locate them based on the vague description that they were under the mat on passenger/driver's side of the floor pans, I'm not laughing.

Pics of your modification would be most appreciated.

[konrad, you recently had three members accurately give you instructions and even photos to show you where the filling points are for the Hydramatic and brake fluid.  If those were "Vague" descriptions to you you should get a mechanic to help you.     quote]

Gordie...those pics perfectly cleared up the locations of those ports...I no longer question their positioning.

I was asking Retroguy for pics of his modification of the floor mat/carpeting for easier access to said ports.

I haven't forgotten the request for photos of my easy access carpet modification for the master cyl and trans filler, it's just that I can't seem to get my photos attached to a post. or maybe I haven't changed from imag to jpeg properly.  Still working on it.

RG...try changing the file extension to .jpg

According to a post I read earlier in another thread, the forum does not recognize four character file extensions...only three character ones.

Each time I check the trans fluid level I find it a chore. Now I know what to do before the next check to make it easier for future checks..
