Another erroneous ebay ad
« on: December 16, 2011, 09:10:01 AM »
Anyone recognize this?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1946-48-kaiser-frazer-hood-emblem-/160700945918?hash=item256a85d5fe&item=160700945918&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

It does look similar to the Frazer one in that it has a knight's head but other than that it doesn't look KF at all. Anyone know what it is?
Oh and by the way, I'm not trying to belittle the seller in any way, just trying to help ID it.

How's about 'Desoto'?  Reminds me of their hood ornament with the knight helmet.

51 Dodge had this exact emblem-not sure which other Dodge emblems were the same. There are sites that show the evolution of Dodge emblems and the one shown for 51 is exactly the same as the one on the bay. Guess someone should tell the seller.

A little googleing indicates you are right. It appears to be off of the nose of a 1949 Dodge.  I found a photo of one apparently taken in 1955 on flickr.

Got a reply from the outfit selling power antennas, invisible antennas and regular antennas for different types Kaiser-Frazer product on eBay.  I asked what their reference source was as the power antenna is 12 volts.  Their comment was that (despite what their ad says)  this is not an actual NOS item unless the owner converted the car from 6 volts to 12 volt electrics; then it was a New Old Stock part!!!!!

Perhaps the recent trend of the courts with regard to mis-representations at auto auctions and car sales should be applied to eBay.  Think of it...RICO laws applied to eBay because they further the conspiricy of fraud by letting sellers mis-represent applications of items sold.

I oftimes email sellers who have statements like "fits Kaisers" in their listings of items that we Kaiser owners would never buy.  I politely ask them to remove the Kaiser reference from items such as floor mats and car seat covers.
All that has done was to have them ban me from buying their worthless junk!
