Unusual color

It is listed as having been repainted original "latrine green". Is this a joke?

This is interesting. No trunk,no glove box, bent tubing column support and 6 cyl. This was the configuration of the first 51's built.It's owned by a salesman at a used car dealer who has had it a short period of time and says he does not know much about it.That usually means he knows but does not want to answer.

It looks like a fair attempt to duplicate Aloha Green.  Had the info off the body tag near the driver side hood hinge area been given (or pictured) we would know for sure on original color.  Also, we would know if the car is a "Standard" as the seller calls it (the K513 4 cylinder) or if it is a K514 and should have a 6 under the hood.

That car was on ebay a couple of years ago. Remember the seller touted it as original "sportsman green."  I know it sold but apparently not to a club member. That air cleaner brace is like the one used on the '47/'48 Kaisers and Frazers. Maybe the early ones had that???  I don't remember seeing it listed anywhere but who knows?
Dave, the front bumper looks right to me. The '51 Js have a flatter front bumper than the '52-'54s (except of course the '52 Vagabond).

That is a very early 51. Notice the bent tubing column support and the fixed not opening vent window.Throw in the no trunk and no glove compartment and it is most unusual.

Pretty cool indeed. It also has the extension on the handbrake lever if I remember correctly which only the earliest Js  had.  No '51 J or '52 J Vagabond ever had glove box originally. Glove boxes weren't introduced till the '52 Corsairs (KF Service Bulletin 323 touts the new feature) and they were standard on all Js once they were introduced.

Paint code 355 is Ceramic green making the color match even closer in my opinion.  I thought I read (but can't find now) the first 5000 Js were Aloha green. The open steering column was only featured on the first 6400 (KF factory bulletin says change took place at 514-007463) so this one is rare in that regard - open column and not Aloha green. Pretty cool.

I'm sorry, but the seller says it's in "original condition" in the opening sentence.  Then says the seats have been recovered, the engine rebuilt, and the car repainted.  Not saying, just sayin...

Old thread but someone sent me this link again so I thought I'd go back and revisit.  It looks like it's still for sale. Jim Brown, I noticed something this time that we didn't point out last time -  look how flat and far back that floating grill is -that's not right. I wonder why it sits so far back in the middle?
Still not a bad example but I'd like to examine that floating grill to see what's up with it.

Did you notice the placement of the heater shutoff valve?

No, I didn't catch that. Interesting - it's up front on the water pump. In other words, careful if you're going to open it when the engine is running! That fan could do some damage to your knuckles. I wonder how it works? Probably just fine.
