Model KF Products
« on: March 06, 2016, 04:33:59 PM »
Does anyone know of any past or present KF cars in model kits?  I would love to get a hold of any, especially a second generation Kaiser.

Revell produced a Henry J in 1/24 scale but as a gasser (drag car). At least two editions of the car were made, the first being in a green and a later version in dark blue. There are usually several of the later version on ebay.

Several manufacturers produced resin Darrins, 1953 Manhattans, and Willys Aeros - all in about 1/25 scale. The quality varies on these.

I've also seen HO scale resin 1949-50 Kaiser kits on ebay.

In assembled models, Yat Ming produced Henry J and 1953 Kaisers in metal in 1/18 scale. There's usually a few on ebay.

Goldvarg, Conquest and Brooklin are just a few of the companies who made Henry J, Darrin, and 1953 Kaisers in metal in 1/43 scale. Check ebay as well.

And, Banthrico produced a 1953 Kaiser bank in 1/25 scale.

Good information, thanks.  I will try to look for a resin kit on Ebay.  Since I sold my Dragon I have gotten back into scale modeling--I built an indoor spray booth.  Anyway, it would be nice to do a Kaiser.

There were also several toys made in tin and die cast especially of the early cars as well as Darrins and Henry J's.  An early Quarterly listed quite a few.  Gama of Germany made a plastic bodied 8 inch '51 Kaiser four door with a metal base and interior with friction motor and also in a taxicab version.  One of our members offered plaster versions of the Banthrico sedan in different body styles.  I  bought a sedan and coupe many years ago.

S.C.Miller made a 1953 Aero Eagle resin kit based on the Byrd promo from back in the day. It included an interior that the promo never had. Since Mr Miller died, I do not think anyone has taken up the call and reproduced his work.

Two different diecast companies have contacted me about making Willys Aeros, one company had a 1/43 prototype of a 1953 Aero Eagle but I've heard nothing from them for maybe 3 years now. the Eagle would be adaptable to make a 1954 or 1955 and also would make a sedan with a "B" pillar. The other company did not tell me the scale that was planned but was looking for cars to photograph and measure. That was maybe a year ago.

Then there is the new diecast Darrin that was advertised in the bulletin.

A diecast Willys would be great, but I am always on the look-out for resin, which I prefer.  Either way, it would be good if this project went forward.

I bought a resin kit a few years ago. Somewhat ill fitting & I had to source the wheels & axles elsewhere but I was glad to have it. I'd be interested in anything Aero if someone produced it.

The auction ended but no one bid on it so it is still available if you want it.  Contact the seller and make a deal.  It looks much like the promo that was made in the fifties.  They are very scarce and expensive if you can even find one.

Okay, I will contact him and see what he says, and hopefully pay less than $50 for it too.

The seller relisted the item and it sold on a buy-it-now.
