New mounting hardware procured.
And most importantly the sending unit has been sent off for restoration.

The unit that came out of my Darrin was probably as bad as yours. It sat in crusty fuel since 1974 which caused half the float to rot away. I sent the unit to these folks and they were able to repair it. Worth the call!

Thanks, will give them a call this morning...Looked at their website, and it looks to be the ticket....

a voice recording when you call.

Got a hold of Ms Walker, she's letting her neighbor handle it now, so waiting on a call
back. Going to do some serious shopping when I get back in there. Have been in the
warehouse 1 time, and its like a candy store of parts.

I think the cable passed straight thru the firewall, rather than up and out with the other cables. Look around, there has to be a pass thru on the passenger side near the center of the car. The cable connects directly to the carb, there is no in-between mechanism.

I agree with that, I was looking and there is a small hole, not sure if the cable will fit, also means I have to swap a couple of knobs around, because it currently mounts next to the AC knob. so will have to move it to the opposite end....
Thanks Jim...

Well,  I've spent the better part of the afternoon, searching the internet for a new, or used sending unit,
So far have struck out. Found some information that some of the Kaisers, and Jeeps have units that might
work. So any insight on where I might find one or suitable replacements.
The one I have might be able to be saved, but need something to make a float?  Its not a guarantee....

I found a 574s carb on the shelf. Does yours have the cable connections shown?

Jim,  I pulled out my cable today, it is only 30" long as yours. So I'm looking at this and trying to figure out how
it is supposed to reach the carburetor, there must be a mechanism it hooks too that is connected to the carb.
That 30" cable doesn't even come close to reaching the carb.

Looking for a good working sending unit, the one I pulled out is minus the float and mechanism frozen....
Is there other years that are compatible

Yes it does, here's a pick of what the linkage side looks like...

Thanks, I know about the grave yard, but it's really hard to get a hold of anyone. Fred's son I think is running it off an on.
Here's a picture of the choke cable coming out the firewall as you can see it won't come close to reaching the carb, so wondering if it hooks up differently, then directly to the carburetor.

Apologize for starting a new thread, but posted back in March on a older thread, and didn't get any reply.

What I'm looking for is a couple of pictures of the W-1 574S carburetor mounted on the manifold,
that shows how the linkage is connected, with the choke cable.  The carburetor I have is missing parts apparently. So any
help someone can provide would be appreciated.  I think I also need to acquire a new choke cable as
the one installed I think might be to short....
Got the ultimatum, get it running or get rid of it..

Hi Gordie, did research on this couple of years ago, I have a 47 Manhattan myself that ive been working on. Still working it. It has the manual choke button on the dash, and I want to go back to that.
But I found a 574S carburetor, for it, but it didn't seem to fit on the manifold to hook up the linkage. So put it on the shelf for other priority's.  Now I have the time to start working it again, Have to drop the gas tank and have it cleaned out, and need to find a proper
manifold.
I actually got up tonight to ask if someone could provide me a picture of the mounting area on the manifold so I can compare to what I
have, to make sure. If it is in fact different, then I need to find the proper manifold...
