The good news is that the block was virgin--my dad said it had been rebuilt at one point, but there's no evidence of that. So, a .030" bore was easy, a clean decking and new pistons, cam, valvetrain, etc. are gonna wake the little guy up.
I'm not used to spending money on 4-bangers (done a few warmed-up big V8s), but this one is special and can't wait to get it back.
Does anyone know if I can get the stock green engine paint in a rattle can?
